are brothers D?Pac and Yogi, born and raised in Central England. They immigrated to Canada in the mid-1980s ,around the same time house music was evolving. Their early exposure to Detroit Techno, Chicago and New York House gave them the basic foundation to experiment with sounds and technology.
Production by the likes of Gamble and Huff, Blaze, Def Mix Production and Incognito educated the duo about arrangement and orchestration. This inspiration brought about the birth of Different Shades Production (DSP). Their production company had one basic goal: to incorporate soul as a key ingredient to music, giving their songs a timeless feel.
Their initial production foray brought them to Detroit where they teamed up with Prescription guru Chez Damier and techno giant Kevin Saunderson. This relationship produced several remix projects for artists like D?Pac, Terrance FM, Chez Damier, Dionne, Members of the House, Kim Beacham and Bobby Harding. Different Shades Production started receiving more attention upon the releases of ?I Wouldn?t? (Prescription Records) and ?Everybody? (Serious Grooves). Their next endeavors brought them home to Toronto where they released the Soul Immigrants and After Dark projects on Crash Records.
Their collection of soulful grooves can now be found on i! records in the form of three separate EP's. Their debut "EP ONE" (IR173) was released in Jan. 2000 and applauded as "deep house like no other". Follow ups "Solid Vibes EP" (IR184) and "The Collective Orchestra" (IR204) have further emphasized they are nothing less than top-notch producers.
